How to Use This Calculator
1. Enter at least two options in the Entry fields (up to 10 entries supported). Each entry can be a name, choice, or any text you like. 2. Optionally toggle 'Remove entry after it is picked' if you want each spin to eliminate the previous winner, useful for sequential drawings. 3. Click the Calculate / Spin button to randomly select one entry from your list. 4. The selected entry will appear in the '🎉 Selected Entry' result field. 5. You can see the total number of entries on the wheel and the probability of any single entry being chosen. 6. To spin again, simply click the button as many times as needed — each spin is completely independent and random.
How the Random Wheel Spinner Works
The spin the wheel tool uses a cryptographically-seeded pseudo-random number generator (via JavaScript's Math.random()) to select one entry from your list with equal probability. Every entry on the wheel has exactly the same chance of being selected, ensuring a fair and unbiased result every time.
Probability of Each Entry
If you have N entries on the wheel, the probability of any single entry being picked on a given spin is:
- Probability = 1 / N × 100%
- With 2 entries: 50% each
- With 4 entries: 25% each
- With 10 entries: 10% each
Equal-Weight Spinning
All entries in this tool are equally weighted. That means a name appearing once has the same likelihood of being chosen as any other name, regardless of its position in the list. This mirrors a real physical prize wheel where each segment is the same size.
